Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation Preview
E3 2006 First Look Preview
Most of the games that I covered at E3 this year were PC based, some also possibly heading to Xbox, but I did get to see a couple for the hand helds as well. Atlus is bringing out one title for the GBA which will probably please you turn based strategy fans out there, in addition to those of you who enjoy sci-fi and mech action similar to Gundam or Robotron.
Super Robot Taisen opened up with a grid like map which displayed both enemies and your units as well. Movement and actions were all turn based, and you will move your fleet against opposing forces where you can set up your own strategies based on your squad, and you will be able to check out stats on opposing fighters as well to help plan out your movements. Once you move into attack range, the screen will then change over to a profile, 2-D animation where you will be able to do things like defend or dodge, and you will watch your fighter attack and then your opponent, or vice versa, similar to games like Advance Wars.
Some Key Features are:
- Detailed combat system, including support techniques and weapon swapping!
- Dozens of customizable mecha!
- Rack up kills and improve skills to transform rookie pilots into aces!
- 40+ hours of strategy RPG goodness!
Super Robot Taisen looks like one of those fun, on the go kind of games that should keep you strategy fans happy for a while.
