ENIX AMERICA INC. ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF ‘DRAGON
QUEST® IV’ IN JAPAN
COMPANY TO LAUNCH TITLE AS ‘DRAGON WARRIOR® IV’ IN NORTH AMERICA
SEATTLE, WA, August 22, 2001 – Following the top-selling success of Dragon Warrior III and the highly anticipated debut of Dragon Warrior VII, Enix America Inc. today announced that it will introduce Dragon Warrior IV to North America. The title will be exclusive to the PlayStation® game console. Dragon Quest IV was simultaneously announced by Japanese parent company, Enix Corporation.
“The overwhelming success of Dragon Warrior III not only reaffirms the popularity of the franchise, but also underscores our belief that a fantastic game-play experience is independent of the platform on which it is played,” said Paul Handelman, president of Enix America. “Each game in the Dragon Warrior series is a brilliant stand-alone product that feeds into a greater, more fully involved universe that is tantalizing players of all ages.”
Part of the franchise’s amazing appeal is the delicate translation work accomplished by Enix America Inc. In faithfully maintaining the engaging storyline and capturing the subtle humor and wit of the characters, Enix has managed to develop an audience beyond that of the traditional gamer. As a result, both hardcore and novice players are finding the company’s Dragon Warrior games the perfect interactive outlet.
In the coming months, Enix America Inc. is shipping Dragon Warrior Monsters 2—Cobi’s Journey and Tara’s Adventure for Game Boy® Color in September, as well as Dragon Warrior VII for the PlayStation game console in October.
